The commemoration of the UAE 46th National Day will end with an amazing lunar celestial event, the Supermoon 2017. The Full Moon shall be slightly larger (7%) and (16%) brighter than usual. SPACECRAFT RE-ENTRY SIGHTED IN THE UAE

At around 7:30PM, October 16, 2017 UAE Local Time, a somewhat mysterious flying object was spotted across the skies of the UAE. The sighting lasted for about 80 seconds that appeared from the general northwestern direction and traveled southwards. There is completely nothing to worry about aliens or any other object that could catastrophically impact Earth whatsoever. Upon witnessing it, some claim that it could be a meteor, comet, or UFO. After further investigations, it was determined as the re-entry of the body parts of SL-4 R/B or the Progress MS-07, a Russian cargo spacecraft. read more

ASTEROID 2012 TC4 CLOSE FLY-BY

On October 11-12, 2017, a tiny near-Earth object (NEO) swept very close to Earth. Designated with the name 2012 TC4, this 15-30 meter wide asteroid (comparable to the 2013 Chelyabinsk meteor) flew by nearEarth at around 11% the Earth-Moon distance. Specifically, it made its close encounter with Earth at about 44,000 kilometers above Antarctica at 9:42AM, UAE Local Time. Fortunately, it did not hit Earth thanks to its gravity deflecting the asteroid’s trajectory away from Earth around its orbit.

FAREWELL, CASSINI!

It has been a bittersweet moment for space exploration enthusiasts. The 3.26 billion US dollar spacecraft Cassini had plunged into the gas giant Saturn at exactly 3:55PM, September 15, 2017 (UAE Local Time) based on the record from National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA) mission control after an approximately 20-year overall journey across space and Saturn. read more
