Comet 260P/McNaught

This is comet 260P/McNaught taken from Al Sadeem Observatory last September 23, 2019, using GSO RC8 telescope and ZWO1600MC. Apparent magnitude at the date and time of observation was +13.54.

This short-period comet was discovered by Australian-Scottish astronomer Robert H. McNaught on May 20, 2005, with the Siding Springs Survey who is a prolific discoverer of asteroids and comets including the Great Comet C/2006 P1 which was the brightest comet seen in several decades. It made its close approach to Earth last October 4, 2019, when it was 84.1million km distant; peaked at magnitude +11.5.
