Here are today’s solar images taken from Al Sadeem Observatory, June 21, 2017, Summer Solstice.
The sky was partly cloudy and experienced some intermittent light to moderate breeze, making the seeing and transparency fair to poor at the time these images were taken.
A new active region, designated as AR2664, has rotated into our view from the Sun’s eastern limb which was seen to have produced some small constricted flaring or CME activity over the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, AR2662 and AR2663 continue to exhibit magnetic stability as they’re about to move towards the western limb. The latest sunspot number (based on visual count and Wolf number calculation) is 34.
SIDC and NOAA-SWPC forecast a persisting low solar activity, with minimum chance of any serious solar flare or CME activity; specifically some potential C-class flaring activity associated with AR2664 is anticipated. Close monitoring is being conducted for any significant development.
