Here are today’s solar images taken from Al Sadeem Observatory, November 26, 2020.
The sky was partly cloudy with relatively calm winds which provided good seeing but average transparency at the time these images were taken.
Sunspot groups AR2783 (Modified Zurich/Mcintosh sunspot configuration: Cso/beta) and AR2785 (Hsx/alpha) experienced slight shrinkage on its respective sunspot structures and were both generally quiet over the past 24 hours. On the other hand, AR2786 (Cki/beta) continued to grow in structure with few additional tiny spots that emerged on its trailer and it has been crackling with C-class flares as recorded by the NOAA-SWPC and SIDC.
The latest sunspot number (based on visual count and Wolf number calculation) is 47. Other solar features observed were few faint moderately huge eruptive prominences mostly along the southwestern and southeastern limbs, some on-going flaring activities within AR2786, and an elongated filament popped out from former AR2784 at the northwestern quadrant, as distinctively captured in H-alpha imagery.
Space weather agencies* forecast gradual increase in solar activity with chances of solar flares of B-class to C-class (possibly up to isolated M-class) intensity, mainly from the upper-mentioned sunspot groups. Close monitoring is being conducted by numerous space weather agencies for any significant development.
Equipment used are Skywatcher 120mm refractor telescope with Baader filter and unmodified Canon EOS 1D Mark IV DSLR camera for visible imagery. For H-alpha imagery, the equipment used are Lunt 60mm H-alpha solar telescope, and QHYCCD 290III mono camera; all mounted on Skywatcher EQ6 pro mount Pre-processing of visible solar images was performed in PIPP, stacking in Autostakkert, slight wavelet adjustments in Registax 6, and post-processing in Adobe Photoshop CC.
