SUNSPOT MONITORING – AUGUST 8, 2017

Here are today’s solar images taken from Al Sadeem Observatory, August 8, 2017.

The sky was clear and experienced good seeing and transparency at the time these images were taken.

Very low solar activity was observed over the past 24 hours. AR2670 has been quiet in activity with no major flaring activity recorded. The latest sunspot number (based on visual count and Wolf number calculation) is 11.

Some prominences and small filaments can be seen in the false-color H-alpha image.

Space weather agencies predicted a persisting relatively calm Sun with slim chance of any serious solar flare or CME activity in the next 24 hours. Close monitoring is being conducted by numerous space weather agencies for any significant development.
