SUNSPOT MONITORING – MAY 23, 2017

Here are today’s solar images taken from Al Sadeem Observatory, May 23, 2017.

The sky was clear and seeing was good at the time these images were taken.

A slight increase in solar activity was observed due to the presence of 4 designated active regions; AR2656, AR2658, AR2659, and AR2660. No serious threat for any strong solar flare or coronal mass ejection (CME) activity associated with these ARs is expected, based on the latest SOHO, SpaceWeather, SIDC, and Solar Monitor reports. The latest sunspot number (as per our visual count) is 53. Numerous plages and prominences can be seen, including the huge ones on the eastern portions of the false color H-alpha image.

We’ll keep monitoring for any significant development.
