SUNSPOT MONITORING JULY 6, 2017

Here are today’s solar images taken from Al Sadeem Observatory, July 6, 2017.

The sky was clear but experienced intermittent moderate breeze, making the seeing and transparency fair to poor at the time these images were taken.

A new active region, AR2665, has been designated after it rotated further into Earth view. The latest sunspot number (based on visual count and Wolf number calculation) is 17.

Despite of its large sunspot size (with it dark core about 2x the size of Earth), it has produced only minor B-class flares over the past 24 hours but potential stronger (C-class) ones might occur in the following hours or days.

SIDC and NOAA-SWPC forecast a persisting low solar activity, with minimum chance of any serious solar flare or CME activity. Close monitoring is being conducted for any significant development.
