Al Sadeem Observatory Hunts for Perseids 2017

On a clear dark night of August 12 until the early morning hours of August 13, 2017, Al Sadeem Astronomy (ASA) conducted an overnight observation of the Perseid Meteor Shower.

The meteor shower observation proper started from 11PM, August 12 until 4AM of the following day. Some dazzling “shooting stars” were seen streaking out from the night sky which mesmerized the observers. ASA’s observatory co-founder and director, Mr. Alejandro Palado; and resident astronomer, Aldrin Gabuya made a visual meteor shower documentation which will be later used for data analysis and submission. Unfortunately, as expected, the bright waning gibbous moon glared out much of the meteors resulting to an overall few count.

Here are spectacular well-timed images and time-lapse videos of the night sky, including the Milky Way Galaxy during the event taken by the observatory’s owner and co-founder Mr. Thabet Al Qaissieh.
