SUNSPOT MONITORING – JUNE 16, 2017

Here are today’s solar images taken from Al Sadeem Observatory, June 16, 2017.

The sky was mostly clear, and experienced intermittent light breeze, making the seeing and transparency fair at the time these images were taken.

There are two active regions present in the Sun’s photosphere; AR2662 and AR2663. The latest sunspot number (based on visual count and Wolf number calculation) is 30.

There were reports of minor CMEs and B-class flare outbursts which caused no significant geomagnetic effect over the past 24 hours. AR2663 has rapidly developed as it went in a beta-gamma configuration and could have caused these minor outbursts over the past 24 hours.

Despite their presence, SIDC and NOAA-SWPC forecast a relatively calm Sun with minimal chance of any serious solar flare or CME activity in the next few days but close monitoring is being conducted for any major development.
