547 Praxedis is a Postrema-type asteroid that was discovered by Paul Gotz at the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory in southwest Germany on October 14, 1904.
It was named after the character “Praxedis” from Joseph Victor von Scheffel’s historical romance Ekkehard (1857).
With further survey carried out by NASA’s Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE), its diameter was measured at 52.462±1.716 km and surface albedo (reflectivity) of 0.101.
It rotates on its axis at a relatively fast rate of 9.105 Earth hours. It orbits the Sun in the central main-belt at a distance of 2.1–3.4 AU once every 1,690 Earth days.
Last August 1, 2019. Al Sadeem Observatory measured its apparent magnitude at +13.1 V.
